Day 3 of our PGLive Countdown is all about "What's happening at PGLive?": The two day festival of greetings lets publishers like us showcase our new ranges, and chat with retailers about our purpose - for us that’s prioritising purpose over profit, transforming well-wishes into wellbeing, meaningful action aligned with meaningful words. There's also plenty of opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere, the food, the first night after-party and…the dresses. There are literal greeting card greeters at the entrance, dresses covered in themed cards, hopefully some of ours this year😃There's also a real sense of community. It's a chance for us to connect with fellow publishers, share stories, swap advice and create friendships with publishers and buyers that will last through the years.Talking of new ranges…here’s a selection from four of the five new ranges we’ll be taking. Day 2 of Countdown Mode™ is “Where’s PGLive at?”: London; Specifically Islington; More specifically The Business Design Centre (The BDC). Our exact location will be Stand 7, in “Springboard”. The What Three Words seems to be ///sleepy.buyers.plant…#WakeUpBuyers!The BDC started life as the Agricultural Hall back in the 1860’s and was host to the first Crufts, the Royal Tournament, and lots of shows featuring cows. In the centre of London. These days it’s had a bit of an 80’s “post-modern classicism” makeover, and is home to some big-niche shows such as the London Stationery Show, Exclusively Housewares and New Designers. Like So Solid Crew never said 23 years ago, we’ve got 21 days to go! PGLive is coming up fast, and we’re now in official Countdown Mode™. What that actually looks like is wandering around going “…have we done everything? What have we forgotten? Is there still time? Have we filled in all the forms? Oh what to wear? Etc”. All in an excited but equally anxious way. Because it’s our first trade show and we’re about to go on a nervous blind-date with the industry.So, Day One of Countdown Mode™ is “But what exactly is PGLive?”: It’s officially “Progressive Greetings Live”, and is a Trade Show dedicated to Greeting Cards, which takes place at The Business Design Centre in Islington, between 4-5th June. It’s the only show of it’s kind in the UK, and is organised by those lovely people at Progressive Greetings (Hello the Traceys and Jakki). There’ll be around 200 exhibitors this year, greeting card publishers both big, small and just starting up/never before seen like us. Who visits PGLive? In the main it’s retailers looking for new designs, new publishers and general newness (plus a bit of a chin wag social): Those retailers range from the village store to the multi-national mega-corporation. But there are also licensing agents, sales agents, suppliers, PR agents, arts agencies and all manner of ancillary bods wandering the halls looking for the next big thing: It’s where some greeting card publishers became well known “brands” and got into licensing. Buyers and agents come from all over the planet: Around 40 countries…including the States and Australia. Yikes!Most importantly, it’s huge fun. We’ll be upstairs in the Launchpad section of Springboard. From past experience it’s super friendly, super supportive and everybody in the industry just pulls together and helps each other out.
