Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA)
An accredited 12-hour programme developing the knowledge and practical skills to offer initial support to someone experiencing mental health distress and help them towards further support.
Practical, in-person mental health training for workplaces, organisations and communities across Scotland.

Green Ribbons provides practical, in-person mental health training for workplaces, organisations and communities across Scotland. We work with groups of different sizes and in very different settings, from small employers and community organisations to larger businesses and public-sector teams.
There is no single Scottish workplace experience. The pressures facing a rural team can be very different from those in a large urban organisation, an operational site, a school, a care setting or a customer-facing business. Good mental health training needs to recognise those differences while giving people clear, useful skills they can take back into everyday working life.
Our approach is grounded in experience and designed to make difficult subjects easier to talk about. We focus on practical understanding, useful conversations, recognising when someone may need support and knowing where the boundaries of the helper role sit. Training can be delivered as an established course or adapted around the people, pressures and situations that matter to your organisation.
Choose from established mental health courses, focused awareness training and workplace programmes, or talk to us about shaping training around your organisation.

Green Ribbons is based in Moray and delivers training in person across Scotland.
The training is informed by decades of experience working in mental health settings, alongside practical experience of workplaces and communities.
Sessions create space for discussion, questions and useful activities rather than relying on passive presentation or scripted role-play.
Examples, emphasis and discussion can be shaped around the organisation, sector and situations participants recognise from their own working lives.
